Mistakes aren’t the end — they’re part of the process.
I wanted to join the Hip Hop Dance team for our school’s fundraising show. I practiced hard, but I kept messing up the steps. Eventually, they cut me from the team.
For a moment, I felt like a failure. Unwanted. Like I didn’t belong.
But I still wanted to be in the show. So I did something unexpected: I wrote a comical skit for my friend and me. My character? The eccentric madam “Boobbleeaay.” (Don’t ask — she was wild.)
We performed it live. The crowd gave us a standing ovation. That moment led me to the Speaker’s Arts competition, where I placed second — right after the iconic Laurel & Hardy “Who’s on First” routine.
I went from being a quiet follower to a confident speaker. From rejected to recognized. From mistake to momentum.
🟡 Try this: Reflect on one mistake you’ve made. What did it teach you? How did it shape who you’re becoming?
You don’t have to get it right the first time. You just have to keep showing up.
